COMMINGLED RECYCLING
In our ongoing effort to protect the environment and increase the volume of trash diverted from landfills, Parks & Sons is proud announce the expansion of the curbside recycling program in Arizona Traditions, Corte Bella, Sun City, Sun City West, Sun City Grand, and Youngtown!
Beginning October 1, 2009, Parks & Sons expanded the recyclables collected curbside in Corte Bella, Sun City, Sun City West, Sun City Grand, and Youngtown. Starting February 1, 2010, Parks & Sons will be implementing the commingled recycling program in Arizona Traditions. In addition to the paper already collected in most areas, the following items are being added to the curbside recycling pickup: aluminum/tin cans, boxes/cardboard, plastics #1 and #2, and glass. This is a single-stream recycling program, meaning that all recyclable items are placed into the container together—there is no need to sort or separate them before placing in your bins.

Non-recyclable materials: Following is a list of materials that should not be included with the recycling collection.
COLLECTION DAYS: Your Parks & Sons curbside recycling collection days will remain the same until February 1, 2010, when the recycling days will change according to the following schedule:
These recycling day changes are being implemented along with the modifications to the holiday operating schedules. After these changes, recycling collections will no longer be skipped on weeks affected by an observed holiday. Another advantage of these changes is that it allows customers to more easily identify their recycling days, which is now determined solely by the service area.
Please continue to set your recyclables out at the curb no later than 5:30 am on the days of collection.
COLLECTION METHODS: Continue to place your recyclables in the bin(s) of your choice (e.g. cardboard boxes, baskets, paper bags, etc.). Do not place recyclables in plastic bags as they contaminate the recycling load. If you use a cardboard box or reusable container to store your recyclables, we will not take your container but will leave it for your next recycle day. Set your recyclable items at the end of your driveway on the side opposite of the underground can. For suggestions on bins for your recyclables, contact Customer Service or click here for examples.
CONVENIENCE: Consistent with the current program, you do not need to sort or separate your recyclables from one another. This is a single-stream recycling program, meaning that all recyclable items are placed into the bin together (e.g. glass can be mixed with plastic, paper mixed with aluminum cans, etc.).
CHARITY: Parks & Sons has and continues to believe in contributing to those less-fortunate. As a result, generous portions of the recycling revenue from our programs are donated to local charities (including Meals on Wheels, Interfaith, West Side Food Bank, Hospice of the Valley, Sun Valley Animal Shelter, and many more). It is our hope that with the larger amounts of recyclables collected that we will be able to increase the donations to such local charities. PRICE: Consistent with our current program, this expanded recycling collection is being offered at no additional cost to you. We are also happy to announce at this time that your residential trash rates will remain the same in 2010, which will be the fifth consecutive year without an increase!
