COMPANY BACKGROUND:

Parks & Sons of Sun City, Inc. (Parks & Sons) was founded in 1964 by Ray Parks. Beginning with a single truck providing manual collection service in Sun City, AZ, exceptional customer service has always been the company’s core value. By not wavering from its core values, the company has been able to grow significantly over the past few decades. Today, Parks & Sons maintains a fleet of 75 collection and service vehicles, and employs more than 130 people. Despite the continued growth over the past 45 years, the company continues to be family-owned and locally-operated.

Parks & Sons currently provides residential, commercial, and industrial refuse collection services to residents and businesses throughout the West Valley. Up until the early 90’s, the company’s service offering was limited to trash only. In 1991, Parks & Sons, in conjunction with other organizations, started a curbside recycling program to divert paper (i.e. newspapers, junk mail, magazines, and phonebooks) from the landfill. This program has been a great success and continues to be offered today.

In the first quarter of 2009, Parks & Sons expanded its recycling efforts and began state-of-the art single-stream programs offered to commercial and residential customers. In these programs, paper, plastics, glass, aluminum/tin, and cardboard are all collected in a single receptacle, taken to a municipal recycling facility, and eventually reproduced into consumer goods. It is the company’s hope to continue working with its customers and vendors to develop and implement innovative programs such as these in order to reduce the negative impact on the natural environment.
